دافع قائد فريق النصر السعودي رونالدو، عن قوة الدوري السعودي، مؤكداً أن التسجيل فيه أصعب بكثير من الدوري الإسباني بسبب شدة المنافسة البدنية والظروف المناخية.

وقال رونالدو في مقابلة مع الإعلامي البريطاني بيرس مورغان: «من لم يلعب هنا لا يعرف شيئاً. اللعب في درجة حرارة تتجاوز 40 مئوية، ومع جدول مزدحم، يتطلب جهدا هائلا وانضباطا عاليا. التسجيل في السعودية أصعب بكثير من إسبانيا»، مؤكداً أن الانتقادات الموجهة للدوري السعودي غير منصفة وفق التقرير الذي بثه موقع «RT»، مشدداً: «من السهل الحديث من بعيد، لكن من الصعب أن تلعب هنا وسط هذه الظروف. هذا الدوري يتطلب شجاعة واحتراماً لكرة القدم».

وختم حديثه بدعوة النقاد إلى احترام العمل المبذول في السعودية: «من يقلل من الدوري السعودي لا يعرف الحقيقة. إنه أقوى من الدوري البرتغالي، وبيئته الاحترافية تتطور بسرعة مذهلة».
